Niels Buning, is a Business Developer manager at Philips Research with a focus on developing business opportunities that address the quadruple aim of value based healthcare. Niels creates, incubates and grows global business opportunities with sustainable impact. And is passionate about healthcare delivery transformation through inclusive innovations that improve lives and expanding access to healthcare in underserved populations in emerging economies.
 
As a venture manager for Low Resource setting Medical Devices in the Africa Innovation Hub, a market driven business incubator focussed on inclusive Community and Primary care innovations, he has launched several high impact global health solutions. Which address high burden causes of mortality such as Childhood Pneumonia and New born resuscitation. He consults Philips Group Sustainability and the Philips Foundation on topics such as circular product & service design innovation, and improving access to care.
 
Niels holds a Master’s degree in Business from the University of Groningen, and started out his career in the specialty chemicals industry. After that moved into pharmaceutical wholesale followed by the specialty textiles industry, before joining Philips in 2012 where he started in the role of business development manager for Africa in the Mother & Child care segment.
