Co-founder Design Sprint Academy, Google
Marta Rey-Babarro is the co-founder of the Design Sprint Academy and the lead researcher for a new education initiative at Google. The Design Sprint Academy aims to spread innovative ways of working, putting the user first, and including all roles of a (digital) product or service. From the first day on, the Academy has been very successful. Not surprisingly, one of Marta's favorite roles at Google is being a sprint master. In this role, she has helped more than 50+ different teams to define new products and services, processes, create project visions or redesign websites.
Prior to arriving at Silicon Valley in 2013, she worked for five years for Microsoft, as the lead researcher for Microsoft Project, for Microsoft Outlook, and the strategic innovation of bringing communication and collaboration across the Office suite for the first time. Before her job at Microsoft, Marta worked as a lead researcher at Bankinter. At Bankinter, she was part of the team that created the first transactional Spanish bank on the Internet and the first content portal.
Marta holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication, from Complutense University of Madrid. She learned what -18 degrees celsius felt like while she studied a masters degree in Human Computer Interaction at the School of Information at the University of Michigan. She is born and raised in Spain and studied a BA in Advertising and Public Relations from Complutense University of Madrid.

Case study
'Building a culture of innovation, collaboration and magic'
The Sprint Master Academy was founded four years ago by a group of UX Designers and Researchers who were dedicated to driving innovation and leveling up design, and user experience across Google. The program has grown to over 300 trained Sprint Masters who are now running Design Sprints for their Product Areas, as well as others, on a regular basis. The methodology has now been adopted across the entire company and has come to be accepted as a critical tool for innovating, collaborating and early user validation. As a founder and lead of the Academy Marta will share with you the four years of effort to inspire you to run similar programs at your company.
