Mercè is the Strategic Design Director of Designit, a global strategic design firm, helping businesses tap into the opportunities of the digital age by creating magical experiences at the intersection of design and technology. She has been successfully developing and applying experience and service design methods and co-creation strategies with users to translate technology innovation into new products and services for design and business innovation. She has worked for leading companies in industries such as Pharmaceutical, Insurance, Retail, Telecommunications, Health & Wellness and Banking.
Her areas of expertise are human-centered innovation design processes, specially at the fuzzy front end and conceptualization stages: design thinking, design research, experience design and service design; generative and projective co-creation; and design management of agile multidisciplinary teams. She has pioneered co-creation in Spain from her experience in the US with Dr Liz Sanders and has developed its methods and strategy since, both in practice and in academia. Mercè teaches at all the major schools of Engineering, Design and Business in Barcelona and Madrid. Her academic areas of expertise are interdisciplinary design curricula development — design for non-designers — including design thinking programs and design management curricula, besides co-creation strategies.
