Service Design Days is more than a conference. Among other activities, we organise several open-door sessions in the city of Barcelona. Below you will find a list of innovative and human-centred design teams, companies and collectives that will open their doors for you on Thursday, September 15. The sessions will take place between 15:00 and 18:30. Subsequently, at 19:00, you are invited to the conference kick-off party. Here you can already meet your fellow participants and most of the speakers. 

The open-door sessions are included in all ticket types for the physical conference. After ticket purchase, we will inventory your preferences and plan a visit for you.

 Glovo

Glovo is a Spanish quick-commerce start-up founded in Barcelona in 2015. It is an on-demand courier service that purchases, picks up, and delivers products ordered through its mobile app. It offers multiple services, with food delivery being the most popular.

Join Glovo at their Barcelona HQ in the heart of Poblenou to meet the UX team responsible for designing its multi-category app that gives easy access to anything in the city: from food to groceries, gifts, retail and more. Hosted by Glovo's UX Director Kevin Hawkins, you will be listening to two talks about applying Service Design methods within the product lifecycle, followed by a short informal closing and a drink.

 Wallapop

Wallapop is a Barcelona-based scale-up, offering a popular second-hand and unique good platform, driven by the purpose of empowering people to embrace a more conscious and human way of consumption. They believe in a world where a collaborative economy is mainstream. Wallapop's strategy revolves around opportunity (by offering a wide catalogue of products & services), sustainability (by extending the life of products), and accessibility (for all, wherever).

You will be welcomed by the design team who will share insights of a disruptive scale-up enabling a connected trade ecosystem, making 2nd-hand the norm. Their very own UX team members Silva Lleras, Sergi Castillo, Bea Sureda, Miquel Orovio, and Laura García are going to dive deeper into the evolution of the design team from the very beginning, growing to their current team structure, how UX becomes a leading function within product today, and how they see the future challenges & impact in collaboration with their sustainability lead Pol Fàbrega.

 Holon

Holon is a design collective engaging with a world in transition, helping organisations at the lead on social and environmental justice offer the best user experience and bring people and planet to profit in a beautiful way. They work with non-profit cooperatives, associations, foundations and public administration, transforming sectors such as housing and energy or local SMEs exploring the circular economy.

You will be welcomed by Adrià Garcia i Mateu in their unit in Coòpolis, arguably one of the most inspiring working spaces in Barcelona, known for being a hotspot of the social and solidarity economy. Particularly, they will invite you to conversations around transitions in practice, a granular approach to the enabling activities of system change.

 Mango

Mango is an international fashion design company founded in Barcelona with over 2,200 stores in +100 countries around the world. Mango would like to invite you to visit the Mango Innovation Centre, located in Barcelona’s innovation district. The venue is dedicated to digital innovation, supporting Mango’s ambition to drive online growth and develop omnichannel projects.

In this session, you will get to know the company and the Customer Experience team. They will share a practical case study from their latest enterprise Mango Home. You will discuss how the online channel impacts Mango Home's purchasing experience. You will also understand how the implementation of this service in the physical stores enriches the perceived value of this new brand. In this session, led by Ariadna Gotanegra (Head of UX | Motor) and Àlvar Sans (Head of UX | Real Estate), you will learn how they built an internal Product Discovery Program to help all teams feel comfortable using Product Discovery techniques to deliver more user and business value. Also, they’ll share some examples and stories across teams, so you can grasp how this initiative has helped the company achieving their primary goals. There will be some time for Q&A afterwards.

Catorce, or 14, is a global creative agency with Barcelona as its home base. An agency obsessed with all things digital, social, and cultural. They’ll open their doors to show you how they innovate. You will participate in a mini-workshop, where you get to learn and practice their way of working. So, join them and share their interesting world view from Barcelona’s tallest building.

 Domestic Data Streamers

Data changes the way we see our world. We can learn more from ourselves and the nature surrounding us than ever in human history. For this reason, we need new tools to reach and translate this information into a universal language. Domestic Data Streamers is a creative office of researchers, designers, and coders from Barcelona that have taken on the challenge to change the way we understand data. Working in service and interaction design, they play within arts, science, and sociology boundaries to explore and create new data languages for several national and international museums and cultural institutions, including the United Nations, Spotify, and the California Academy of Sciences.

Take a tour around the DDS headquarters, and join their presentation on how data is finding ways to be transformed into art through projects in hospitals, prisons, and even a church.
